Muslim population in India in 2019

I just found that the Muslim population is approximately 180 million (18 crores). The present population of India is 1.35 billion (135 million).

The total percentage of Muslim population in India is 14.2%. The highest percentage of Muslim population is in Lakshadweep (96%) which is a union territory.

When it comes to the state, Jammu and Kashmir is at the top with a high density Muslim population (67%). In some other states where Muslims live in large numbers, Assam (34%), West Bengal (27%), Kerala (26%) and Uttar Pradesh (19%).

The least populous states are Mizoram, Punjab, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh (1 to 2%).

According to the data recorded in 2015, a slight decline of 0.7% was recorded in the population of Hindus and the Muslim population increased by 0.8%.

According to Wikipedia, in 60 years, the Muslim population has increased from 9.93% to 14.2%.

According to the Pew Research Center, the global population of Muslims is 160 million (1.6 billion), out of which 24.3% live in Asia.

In 10 countries with high Muslim population, India is number two after Indonesia with a number of 18 crores (180 million). When it comes to the Muslims’ participation in the global population, then 11% Muslims live in India.

Compared to the increase in the population of Muslims in India and Pakistan, Pew Research has revealed that, after partition, the population of Hindus has declined, whereas the Muslim population has increased with slight differences.

At the same time, there has been an increase in the population of Muslims in India, while the number of population in Pakistan has decreased gradually (very little margin).

The sex ratio of Muslims in India is 94 women per 100 men, which is higher than Hindus (93.5 women for 100 men). Compared to the Hindus, the sex ratio of Muslims is higher in rural areas than urban areas.
